OpenAI has rolled out ChatGPT Images 2.5, an upgraded image model that focuses on generating higher-fidelity visuals, faster response times and more precise editing controls. ChatGPT Images 2.5 targets improvements in lighting, texture and subject preservation from reference photos, and the company says it reduces generation latency by up to 50% compared with Images 2.0 while following edit instructions more reliably across multiple turns.
The update arrives amid heavy usage: OpenAI reports that people generate more than 3 billion images every week across ChatGPT Images and the GPT-Image models available through the API. Images 2.5 is being deployed broadly—OpenAI says it is rolling out to ChatGPT, ChatGPT Work and Codex users across desktop, mobile and web on all tiers, and developers can access new API models based on the same advances.
